L’esistenza terrena di Padre Pietro Lavini e la sua straordinaria impresa, la ricostruzione del Monastero di San Leonardo sulla cima della Priora, sui monti Sibillini, sono al centro del libro «Il muratore di Dio. Padre Pietro Lavini e il monastero di San Leonardo», che sarà presentato sabato 1 aprile, alle ore 17.30, presso il Centro Giovanni Paolo II, a Montorso di Loreto.

L’evento, patrocinato dal Comune di Loreto, sarà l’occasione nella quale si incontreranno per la prima volta i nipoti di Padre Pietro, Silvano e Roberto Dominichini, e Franco Albertini, nipote di Luigi, già senatore della Repubblica e direttore del Corriere della Sera nei primi vent’anni del Novecento, proprietario del terreno su cui si ergevano i ruderi dell’antico monastero benedettino fino al 1969, anno in cui la famiglia lo cedette alle “cure” delle mani sapienti del frate cappuccino.

Il programma ricco di ospiti prevede, in apertura, i saluti del direttore del Centro Giovanni Paolo II, don Paolo Volpe, dell’assessore Luca Mariani, e del salesiano cooperatore Italo Canaletti. Oltre all’autore Vincenzo Varagona, inoltre, interverrà Alberto Scoccia, portavoce dell’associazione «Amici di San Leonardo».

Nelle pagine del libro edito dalle Paoline di Roma, accanto alle parole del religioso, di cui possiamo leggere l’ultima intervista, concessa a Varagona poche settimane prima del malore che lo ha colpito il 20 novembre 2015, occupano uno spazio importante le testimonianze di molti cari amici, giunti a San Leonardo dopo aver oltrepassato le gole dell’Infernaccio e tornati più e più volte, intrecciando con Padre Pietro legami indissolubili.

Un piccolo grande uomo dalla fede incrollabile, il «Muratore di Dio», che ha lasciato a tutti noi «un testamento di pietra e di grazia», per usare le parole del cardinale Edoardo Menichelli, autore della prefazione.

Padre Lavini ha ridato vita a un angolo di paradiso in terra diventato nel tempo un centro di spiritualità conosciuto in tutta Italia e nel mondo; ma nonostante sia riuscito a strappare il Monastero all’oblio e alla distruzione, oggi c’è preoccupazione per un futuro incerto, nei Sibillini feriti, colpiti al cuore dal sisma, che ha sconvolto il territorio e ha reso San Leonardo inaccessibile.

La presentazione sarà anche un momento in cui fare il punto della situazione.
