LA FANTASIMA – Massimo Kaufmann

Sabato 10 dicembre la galleria IDILL’IO arte contemporanea di Pio Monti a Recanati presenta La Fantasima, mostra personale di Massimo Kaufmann.

L’artista si è ispirato ad un episodio narrato da Leopardi nei Pensieri, realmente avvenuto a Firenze nel 1831. Protagonista è il suo amico Antonio Ranieri, il quale, una sera passando per Via Buia, trova “presso alla piazza del Duomo, sotto una finestra terrena che ora è de’ Riccardi, fermata molta gente, che diceva tutta spaventata: ih, la fantasima!

Ranieri, volendo vederci chiaro, dopo essersi arrampicato, scopre che in realtà la spaventosa apparizione non è altro che uno svolazzante grembiule nero. Leopardi si serve dell’aneddoto per mettere in ridicolo chi, nel XIX secolo, nella città considerata più colta e civile d’Italia, sia ancora vittima della superstizione. Ma d’altra parte, ricollegandosi a un dibattito in voga sulle riviste culturali d’epoca, ammonisce gli stranieri di quelle nazioni “marchent à la tete de la civilisation”, che nessun’altra nazione come l’Italia crede di meno ai fantasmi.

In mostra troviamo le pagine in cui è riportato il racconto leopardiano, ma sono fogli scritti in alfabeto Braille, il codice tattile che consente a chi è privo della vista di leggere un testo. Le opere esposte sono quindi le superfici di carta traforata che si trasformano in tavole dipinte.

L’artista si chiede da cosa nasca la superstizione, da dove abbiano origine i pregiudizi e da quali codici siamo guidati. Kaufmann recupera la dimensione rituale dell’arte nella sua complessa simbologia e nei suoi significati multipli, stratificati, attraverso il personalissimo gesto del dipingere per creare immagini poetiche con la pienezza della sua energia.

In linea con la mostra “The Golden age. “Nato per vedere, chiamato a guardare (…)” presentata nella galleria romana di Pio Monti nel 2013, La Fantasima trasforma lo spazio in luogo dell’avventura personale e collettiva come esperienza sensibile dell’in-visibile, ripercorrendo la riflessione leopardiana.
