Inaugura oggi la fiera più importante a livello internazionale di arredamento e design con appuntamenti imperdibili disseminati in tutta la città:dall’evento ufficiale nella Fiera di Rho al Fuori Salone i punti d’attrazione sono parecchi. Una delle star del Fuori Salone 2016è l’olandese Maarten Baas, classe 1978, star internazionale del design, ambasciatore della prestigiosa Eindhoven Design Academy. Baas balza subito all’attenzione del mondo nel 2002con il progetto per la sua tesi di laurea intitolato “Smoke”. Con un getto di fuoco incenerisce mobili antichi anonimi, brucia icone del design come la sedia Calvet di Antoni Gaudí, la libreria Carlton di Ettore Sottsass, la seduta LCW di Charles e Ray Eames, la Favela Chair dei fratelli Campana, per poi ricoprire il “residuo” di materiale epossidico; Smoke manda letteralmente in fumo il tempo per ritrovare una nuova contemporaneità, sfidando i pregiudizi sul valore delle cose.il lavoro sorprende e conquista un posto d’onore alla Moss Gallery di New York. Baas raccoglie spunti ovunque, dalla tv al cinema, dalla natura alle persone, fino agli scarti industriali. Seguiranno gli oggetti per la tavola in porcellana Haphazard Harmony per Skitsch, i mobili in terracotta Clay e quelli scultorei dalle forme imprecise ed asimmetriche Sculpt. Una reinterpretazione del già visto, già fatto, per creare un ambito di pezzi unici, ironici, surreali.La sua riflessione sul tempo continua con il progetto Real Time del 2009 fatta attraverso il linguaggio del video. Baas usa il linguaggio cinematografico per ri-disegnare una collezione composta da tre diversi orologi, dalla vecchia sveglia analogica al segnatempo digitale e li crea da zero, dall’interfaccia fino alla “scatola” esterna. Oltre a disegnarli, Baas anima gli orologi con un meccanismo attoriale – vere e proprie lancette viventi- coinvolgendo centinaia di attori e figuranti per segnare il tempo. Quanti tempi ci sono? Quante le visioni per ciascuno? Nel futuro come misureremo il tempo?Real Time è stato presentato al Salone del Mobile di Milano del 2010, dove il progetto è diventato un’applicazione Apple, scaricabile per 0,99 dollari (0,75 euro). Un prodotto nato come pezzo unico viene restituito alla produzione di massa.Oggi Baas torna a Milano in via Savona 33 con “New Newer Newest!” un’altra opera dedicata al tempo. Una visione sul tema della novità, volutamente messo in conflitto con la velocità con cui si acquistano i “prodotti novità” in rete. In mostra il processo di produzione di una sedia a partire dalla pressatura di uno stampo sul tronco di un albero. Tempo di realizzazione: 200 anni.
